What is cross contamination and how to prevent it during COVID-19

In order to collectively address the current epidemic, it is imperative to understand how COVID-19 spreads on surfaces and how to properly disinfect them. The entire population is affected by this invisible enemy and it is important to have a good disinfection protocol and protect yourself to limit contamination of surfaces. Going to the grocery store or to the pharmacy has now become a challenge and it is an outing that we must do at least once a week. By taking the right precautions before, during and once you return from this task will generate less stress and worry.

Physical social distance while out in public is imperative and the all the health experts are telling us that we are to stay 2 meters which equals 6 feet from each other if we are out in public. We are also not to be with groups larger than five people and it is essential that we minimize the need to go out for only things that are essential like getting groceries. Many stores are limiting the number of people allowed into the store at one time and also reminding us to keep our social distance at all times when out in public. New standards are in place to be sure that carts are being disinfected; surfaces that are highly touched are being wiped and disinfected; and we are asked to watch what we are always touching.

Hygiene such as washing our hand regularly with soap and water, or the use of alcohol-based hand sanitizer if soap is not available are encourage and must be done often. Covering our cough and sneezes, avoid touching our face at all time and trying to stay home as much as possible are also important to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

It is not fully understood how long COVID-19 can survive on surfaces, but Coronaviruses are one of the easiest types of viruses to kill with proper cleaning and disinfection of surfaces that are highly touched. The recommendation is to use regular EPA approved household cleaners or a dilution of bleach with a ratio of 1tsp(5ml) per cup(250ml) of water.

To reduce your chance of catching or spreading coronavirus, clean and disinfect all surfaces and objects in your home and office every day. This includes: Countertops, Tables, Doorknobs, Bathroom fixtures, Phones, Keyboards, Remote controls and Toilets.

After you visit the grocery store, pharmacy, or even bring home takeout food, always wash your hands with soap and water. Do the same thing after you pick up packages and newspapers that might have been delivered to your home.

To reduce the spread of the viruses after you return from getting groceries or other items, we invite you to watch this video to help you and keep yourself safe and healthy!

Supermax Healthcare Canada would like to thank all of the frontline workers and all Canadians who follow and adhere to the recommended hygiene and social distancing measures. We will overcome this step together. Stay safe and healthy with those you love. We hope that the situation will improve in the coming weeks.

10 tips to safely do your groceries during the covid19 crisis.

In the last 2 weeks, it is inevitable to notice the drastic change in the way we do our groceries due to the covid19 virus. Different measures have been taken and must be taken to protect everyone while getting our essential goods.

Here are 10 tips to safely do your groceries during the covid19 crisis:

1- Prepare a grocery list

Preparing a grocery list ahead of time is important! That way you will know exactly what you are looking for and you will spend the least amount time in the store.

2- Do online grocery shopping

Online grocery shopping is one of the best if not the best way to get your goods. It’s safe, convenient and you can take your time to choose the items that you need.

3- Designate only one person to go

If online shopping is not an option for you and that you are quarantined with other people in your house, designate only one person to go get the groceries to reduce the risk of many people potentially being expose to the virus.

4- Try to go only once a week

Avoid going to the grocery store multiple times a week so that again you can to reduce the risk of potentially being expose to the virus.

5- Limit the stores you visit

As you know these are critical times so it is not the time to shop around. Therefore, try to get everything that you need from one store, if possible.

6- Avoid paying cash use your bank card or credit card

Use your bank card or credit card to pay for your items that will prevent you from having to manipulate money and prevent any physical contact with the cashier.

7- Apply social distancing measure while in the store

Always remember to keep your distance, stay at least a meter away from everyone while going through the aisle.

8- Do not touch every item in the store

It is very important to protect each other in every way possible so do not touch every fruit, vegetable and can that you see in the store. Choose the one you want and carry on.

9- Wash your hands and use hand sanitizer before AND after going to the store

Before and also once you leave the store, wash your hands or use hand sanitizer and avoid touching your face after you’ve touched anything.

10- Disinfect your food and grocery bag once home

Once home make sure you properly wash your fruits, vegetables and packaged goods with soap & water or a 3 parts water 1 part vinegar solution before consumption. As for your reusable shopping bags, use a disinfectant or sanitizing cloth especially along the seams and handle.

Be safe!

The power of personality

You are running a company and you want to reach the highest peaks. To succeed, you are convinced that it is important to be acquainted with each member of your team. Knowing your employees through their duties at work is a good thing, but knowing them as individuals is even better!

Understanding each other’s strengths and personalities will move your company forward. You are probably wondering how to lead a work team by working with each of them individually? To answer this question, Aurelia suggests a free online test on Personality Strengths design by Anthony Robbins, n° 1 life and business strategist for 38 years and recognized authority on the psychology of leadership, negotiations and organizational turnaround. This assessment is a tool that will create a positive effect for your business since it is primarily designed for individuals, and their organizations, wishing to identify and maximize their strengths and motivations.

You can use the assessments, individually or with your team, to:

  • Help each individual to know oneself well and move forward in their career
  • Help team members understand how they are similar, or different, and how to account for these differences
  • Identify the behaviours, motivations and skills required for a position
  • Suggest the areas of expertise that best suits the candidate

You wish for a more authentic collaboration with each member of your team as well as with your employees? So, find out what stimulates them.

The DISC evaluation
Unmask your true nature and what motivates you in order to better communicate with your peers. The DISC evaluation was developed by an American psychologist, inventor and writer William Moulton Marston. This test uncovers the ranking of an individual within the four quadrants of behavioural patterns:

These concepts contain a rich source of information about your basic personal needs as well as how you interact with others. They will reveal elements of your personality through the four main dimensions.

Following your DISC evaluation, which will only last 15 minutes, you will receive a complete result by email. To maximize the effectiveness of a DISC test, you will need to accurately interpret the final report. The main focus of this review is to help you understand the strengths and potential conflicts between the way you react and your motivation.

In conclusion…
To better understand their personality type and style of behaviour, more than two million people submitted to the DISC assessment.

Aurelia is convinced that a DISC profile will be useful if you are looking for a tool that will assist you in acquiring:

  • better understanding of your personal and professional development,
  • improved trust,
  • adequate communication with others,
  • optimization of exchanges.

As a follow-up to this test, and in a continuous improvement process, the next step might be to work with an experienced management coach. But first, TAKE THE DISC ASSESSMENT.
